No, this is not a post with all the facts and figures and all that. It’s purely opinionated.
Is augmented reality gonna change our lives for the better? or just make us live in paranoia and fear?
something i’ve been thinking about since i was first exposed to that TED thingy in class.

i mean seriously its gonna be one hell of freaking awesome piece of techno gizmo. Though its like still in its ‘prototype’, ‘nokia 3310′ stage. But imagine it in 5-10 years time.
Just a little small gadget that could basically do almost anything.
I think the scariest thing about that invention is the fact that it is able to pull out information bout you from the net and tell the person using it almost everything that is on the web about you. It does not tell you exactly the kind of person you are. Just tag clouds about you.
But that is bad enough isn’t it? it sorts of makes people judge you. Say you see a world of warcraft related tags on some guy you just met, maybe he’s working in a software company, did some research, or what no.
But you’re first impression is gonna be what a total geek. No?
In my opinion, i feel this is the greatest flaw that this invention can offer.
I mean don’t people enjoy the getting-to-know process and such?
To me the downside of technology definitely outweighs the upside.
It’s just there’s nothing we can do. But adapt and definitely control ourselves and the choices we make in drawing the line between:
Convenience vs Laziness
CPA vs Multitasking
the ‘Tags Method’ of getting to know people vs the Getting-to-know method
and more..haha
I mean you could argue this is probably for corporates and stuff, but hey it would probably be open to public too. The internet started as a defence strategy, and look at what it is now.
Definitely it is going to be really advantageous for corporates and stuff, but hey, what big brother does, little brother will follow, no?
