I think my classmate mentioned something in class that i totally agreed with.
“Soon social media will become so cluttered that it will phase out, as people respect privacy.”
I so totally agree with it. If you say it can’t and won’t, please please tell my why?
I mean in the future, consumers = gatekeepers! we’re kings. what we want is what corporations care about. So we dont want ads annoying the shit out of us and this includes sending messages, inviting us to be fans, twitter updates, etc.
Maybe its just me, i was well-trained since i was young to just skip through ads and completely ignore them. Mainly print ones. Like TV ads some of them are really good.
But come on, have you seen the ads on channel 5 nowadays?
what were they thinking? Seriously?
Hahahaha.
Anyway, what my classmate said really struck a chord. I mean social media has become more of a business media. The corporate jungle in the virtual world.
Gone were the days blogging was just a virtual diary. Personal but just more convenient. Now, the whole world can find your blog. There goes privacy.
I mean thats the bad thing bout technology, sometimes it goes in a direction against you and there’s nothing you can do but sigh.
I wont be surprise a new networking site would come up that is free of ads and companies are not allowed to promote the products/services. Or maybe it’s already out?
I think i’ll switch to that.
I think corporates should get their lazy, technology-dependent butts up and get out there, doing real-life observations, studies rather than rely on Social Media. Cause i think once it phases out and people see it as a negative thing. Where’d ya gonna go?
And also its kinda rude to monitor people and stuff. I don’t think its impressive at all that if you reply to a thread and they can CALL YOU UP on your handphone, etc.
So yeah. Just a thought. What happened to ethics? Why are we switching to online platforms? Why aren’t we revolutionizing the mediums we already have? Why give up and just go to the next best thing without trying?
