hello,

Thoughts of a Dying Ignorant

Well, Pat law gave us an insightful lecture about how to use certain social mediums to our advantage if we end up in the media industry.

I think what i liked about it was that at the end of the lecture i was given sort of a wake up call, like:

“Hey dumbass, if you wanna be in the media industry you gotta be involved in this shit! You can’t escape it, this is it man the future of the media industry lies in social media”.

It was probably more vulgar. haha

But anyway, a classmate told me before school started that we had to open up a twitter and a blog account and that we’re gonna be graded for it. I never understood people who blog about their lives and shit like that, i always thought they were insecure and lonely cause it seems like they had nobody to talk to.

Honest!

Then i was told to blog on stuff to like brand myself.

Another thing that i thought was dumb. No offence to anyone. HAHA!

But yeah, probably cause i’m not used to like talking bout myself and what are my strengths, talents and shit like that.

One reason why i hate job interviews. I can’t talk about myself in a serious way. I mean i’d rather bring a friend to an interview if i could and let him/her do all the talking.

And yes, i’m not confident and comfortable of putting myself in a very formal, serious spot.

But well, in my opinion the guest lecture actually just stress the fact that there’s no escape from social media and that it is just that damn effective for organisations to know their audience.

It’s so much better then surveys i suppose?

I mean i always thought it was lame, twitter, blogging and stuff. I mean who really cares right? But corporates do care.

And from my point of view, contrary to the term social media, i guess its extremely advantageous for organisations and all those corporates that WE engage in social media.

But its also important for the future WE who might end up in the related industries.

:D
